EDW is a certified telecommunications contractor for Bell Canada providing a full range of installation services to meet the needs of their customer base.
EDW Cabling Inc. teamed up with Rogers Communications to deliver the resort wide fibre optic network utility at Friday Harbour Resorts that provides data communications and security coverage on the roadways, in the restaurants, retail outlets, fitness facilities, recreational areas & buildings, The Nest golf course & club house and all of the resort management and operational facilities.
In doing ICT projects on Canadian Forces Bases for a number of years EDW has developed strong relationships within SSC’s Telecommunication Cable Network Design and Engineering group that have endured. Interacting with the group directly as we once did within Standing Offer agreements or as we currently do by way of our working agreements with Bell Canada, EDW has provided services that have included, Outside Plant work – buried or aerial line work in fibre optic and copper; Cabling Infrastructure – duct, conduit and cable tray; Structured Cabling – fibre optic and copper; WiFi installations that include heat map surveys, AP and cable installation with support infrastructure and exit surveys.
EDW acts as a physical security consultant and subject matter expert to CIBC providing consultation and design services for facilities that have special security requirements.
When moving forward with an initiative such as new construction, renovation or upgrade, upon implementation CIBC hands the process over to BGIS to manage and facilitate. EDW provides BGIS with technical specification writing and support in dealings with the banks security vendors and contractors.
Since completing the build of the resort wide network at Friday Harbour, EDW is called upon to provide support in maintaining their communications infrastructure with respect to ongoing adds or changes.
EDW personnel and for the past fourteen years as EDW Cabling Inc have been involved with every major IT infrastructure project at Blue Mountain Resort since it was purchased in 1999 by Intrawest Corporation when they began their development of the property. The fibre optic backbone was first installed and then horizontal Cat 5e, Cat6 to the resort operations offices, retail spaces, condominiums, and hotels. Some of the larger horizontal Cat 5e/6 UTP cabling projects were at the Westin Trillium Hotel, the Weider Lodge, the Grand Georgian, and the Blue Mountain Conference Centre. The fibre backbone and Cat5e/6 UTP cabling infrastructure supports voice and data, WiFi, POS and security camera communications.
